"When I was on crutches for several weeks, I still had to be on the move with my family. I needed a new bag that would be kept close to the body & big enough to carry more than just the essentials. At the same time, I found myself only wearing a hoodie sweatshirt around the house for the kangaroo pocket storage since my hands weren’t free. The Linda Belt Bag came about when these two ideas of a belt bag & kangaroo pocket combined together to make traveling (and healing!) a little easier for me.
¿The Linda has two distinct views. View A includes a large kangaroo pocket with snaps, uses 11/2” webbing with triangle ring & swivel clasp hardware. View B has a more clean, sporty look with strapping detail on the front & uses 1” webbing with a buckle attachment. It also uses mesh fabric & additional D-ring for extra functionality. Both views have a key fob, 3-section interior slip pocket, large zippered
main compartment, along with a spacious back zipper pocket and adjustable strap. You can mix & match many of these features to make the Linda your own!
¿In this bag, you will work with webbing & learn how to sew Y-seams. This pattern use two different zipper installation techniques that are interchangeable. You will also learn to sew darts to create volume & work with different hardware for your own personalized look. Best of all -- there is no bias binding. The lining has a completely clean finish. This pattern was written for home decor and/or bottom-weight fabrics such as cotton canvas, duck cloth, and denim with weights of ~ 6-8 oz/sq yard. The Lining is based on quilt cotton and woven fabric with similar weights of ~4 oz/sq yard, such as linen or chambray. If you decide to use vinyl, cork, leather or other fabrics with a heavier hand, you may be able to omit interfacing. You can possibly omit interfacing on the interior of the bag if using waterproof canvas, oilcloth, and other coated fabrics with a heavier hand. But at the same time, use of thicker and more rigid fabrics, can also make the Linda Belt Bag more difficult to sew at the darts, Y-seams and turning out at the finish. ¿¿Finished Dimensions: 13”W x 7”H x 3”D
