To make the Fabric & Batting Tube, place a thin batting strip on the wrong side of a 2.5in fabric strip. Feed the layered (fabric & thin batting) strip, batting side up, into the wide end of the Jelly Roll (tm) Tube Maker. If needed, place a sewing awl in the slot on the tool to pull the layered strip through. Then fold the now magically folded, layered strip in half as it comes out the other end & place under the sewing machine presser foot ready to stitch. Keep the Jelly Roll Tube Maker close to the sewing machine & slide along as you sew. This product works best with 2-1/2in precut batting strips. The metal Jelly Roll Tube Maker may be used with or without an iron (with caution) for other similar technique projects. Endorsement: "As the creator of the original Jelly Roll Rug & subsequent patterns, I have dreamt of the production of this amazing, helpful notion. The strong, sturdy & durable Jelly Roll(tm)Tube Maker will ease the sometimes tedious & painful folding process of creating the fabric & batting tubes. This 4-1/2in square ruler from Creative Grids® is the perfect companion for anyone who loves to work with the 5in precuts on the market today. · Made in the USA with high quality acrylic and precision measurements ensuring accuracy for your quilting, sewing, patchwork, and crafting projects. · Creative Grids® exclusive non-slip grip allows you to easily slide the ruler over the fabric until positioned correctly. Then, when slight pressure is applied, the grip holds the ruler in place, eliminating slipping while you cut. · Easy to read black and white markings are printed in 1in grids marked in 1/8in and 1/4in increments. · Use the black numbers printed on white dots and the 1/4in grip sides to cut in whole inches. · Use our exclusive Turn-a-Round feature to easily cut in 1/2in increments by following the white numbers on black dots and 1/2in grip sides. · The 1/4in dashed lines that are printed on two adjoining sides aid in trimming seam allowances, and the 45 degree diagonal line makes trimming half-square triangle blocks easy and accurate. · White horizontal and vertical lines are printed on the square to show the center of the ruler. Use these lines to square up blocks based on four-patches, embroidered, and appliquéd blocks.
