I Lost My Own Blade Inside Myself
by Countryside Quilts® Service Center on Oct 18, 2026
My name is Sonofabitch, which my person picked out, and on the day I came into Countryside Quilts I felt I had finally earned it. I would not cut thread. Not a clean snip, not a ragged snip, nothing. My person would pull the fabric away and just end up chewing through thread with their teeth like a frontier seamstress.
Turns out my thread cutter blade had gone missing entirely. I did not misplace it responsibly, say, on a shelf. No. It fell into my own bottom casing, where it had apparently been living a quiet, secret life away from the one job it had.
The bench tech opened me up, retrieved the wayward blade from down in my internal basement, cleaned out the area like it was spring cleaning, and installed a new Singer thread cutting blade in its rightful place. I also got a round of preventative maintenance while I was already cracked open, because apparently if you're going to go spelunking in a machine you might as well tidy the place.
One day on the bench. One blade recovered from the depths. One machine that can finally cut thread like a civilized piece of equipment again.
If your machine has developed a mysterious grudge against thread, or any other dramatic personality quirk, it might just be hiding something it lost a long time ago. Worth a look.
