The foam padding in the mat, that your sewing machine sits on helps prevent vibration. The bottom part of the mat hangs over the table so the pockets are right in front of you for easy reach of your tools. There are 2 rows with a total of 9 different size pockets to hold all your sewing supplies. For storage or travel the top part of the mat folds over to protect your tools.
